U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren, R-Plano, Thursday urged all residents of Illinois’ 14th Congressional District to take back expired, unused and unwanted prescription medicines to authorized disposal sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Medicines that sit unused, including powerful opioid painkillers, are susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse, according to a news release from Hultgren’s office.

Collection sites in Will County include:

• The Will County Sheriff’s Office, 14 W. Jefferson St., Joliet

• The Plainfield Police Department, 14300 S. Coil Plus Drive, Plainfield

• The Lockport Police Department, 1212 Farrell Road, Lockport

• Liquids or needles will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous.
