During this week’s Congressional District Work Period, U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-14th) traveled across McHenry and Lake counties to meet with constituents, students and local manufacturers about economic issues.

“I look forward to every District Work Period when I get to celebrate the accomplishments of our great citizens and work with communities to solve pressing problems,” Hultgren said. “From meeting with home-schooling students in McHenry to getting an up close look at important Illinois manufacturers that provide thousands of jobs to our workers, I am honored to be able to share with them about what I am doing to represent them in Washington and help them solve local challenges. I am always happy to meet with residents to talk about their concerns, opinions and ideas about how to grow our economy and improve the quality of life in the 14th District.”

On Wednesday, Hultgren talked about U.S. government and STEM-focused education with students from Crystal Lake, Huntley, Algonquin, Johnsburg, Spring Grove, Woodstock and Harvard. The event was sponsored by, a charity that provides enrichment and educational programs for home schooled kids.

He later toured Petroferm, a Gurnee manufacturer and marketer of specialty cleaning agents. Petroferm is a member of IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries, a global industry association representing all facets of the electronics industry. The group opposes regulations that can hinder competitiveness and innovation.

On Thursday, Hultgren delivered a legislative update at the Rotary Club of Antioch
