Hultgren Announces 2018 Congressional Art Competition
Campton Hills, IL — U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren (IL-14) has announced the start of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition for high school students from the 14th Congressional District of Illinois. The winner's artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for an entire year.
“The 14th District talent pool only increases every year as students continue to submit excellent entries for the Congressional Art Competition,” said Rep. Hultgren. “I welcome all high school students in the 14th District to submit their entries and help us showcase our talented young artists in the U.S. Capitol.”
Hundreds of thousands of high school students have participated since the Congressional Art Competition was created in 1982. One winner is chosen from each district, and the winner’s artwork is then sent to Washington, D.C. for display in the U.S. Capitol. Each winner also receives a roundtrip ticket to Washington. Second and third place winners will have their artwork exhibited in 14th District Offices for one year.
Last year, Luke Holwerda of Wheaton Academy was chosen as the winner from the 14th District. His piece, “L’Arc de Triomphe,” won out of the 41 entries submitted from the district and is currently one of those featured on the Congressional Art Competition Website.
Entries for the competition are now being accepted and must be submitted by appointment to Rep. Hultgren's Campton Hills (call 630-584-2734) or McHenry (call 815-679-6352) offices by Friday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m. The entry only needs to be framed if it is selected as the winner to be hung in the U.S. Capitol. The offices are located at:
40W310 Lafox Road
