Hultgren Statement on Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction
Geneva, IL– U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) today released the following statement after the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction failed to complete an agreement before the committee's deadline.
"I'm extremely disappointed by the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction's inability to come to a bipartisan agreement to tackle our nation's fiscal crisis," said Hultgren. "However, even before the committee's negotiations began, I stated that I believed it is the job of all of Congress, not just a select group of individuals, to find the solutions necessary to restore our country to fiscal sanity.
"I look forward to heading back to Washington to continue the fight to put an end to our spending-driven debt crisis and agree on a deficit reduction plan that works for the American people and our economy, saving our children and grandchildren from a bankrupt future they don’t deserve."
