Hultgren to Host Community Leadership Forum on Healthcare at Elgin Community College

Aug 26, 2014
Press Release
14th District Event Will Tackle Top Issues Facing Consumers including Affordable Care Act, Medical Technology Innovation and Improving Access to Healthcare

Washington, DC — U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren (IL-14) has announced he will be hosting a Community Leadership Forum on Healthcare on Thursday, August 28 at Elgin Community College to bring together a diverse group of high caliber community stakeholders to address today’s challenges to the healthcare system, and provide important information for health consumers in the 14th District.

“Our healthcare system today is extremely complex.  It faces significant challenges and has so many conflicting incentives, rules, and regulations that few Americans have the ability to make sound and affordable decisions for themselves and their families,” said Rep. Hultgren. “Consumers are facing rising costs and fewer options, and can’t predict with any certainty how upcoming changes in the president’s healthcare law will affect them. Like my previous community leadership forums on our state's heroin epidemic and the impact of the Common Core standards on our children's education, I am convening this forum to give my constituents the most relevant and up-to-date information to make informed decisions as they engage the healthcare system. The forum brings high caliber experts together in one place, to share information, and work together to tackle the challenges of Illinois’ health care system. My goal is for everyone to walk away with new ideas for solutions to improve healthcare delivery, access, and care.”

As part of the all-day forum, three panels of healthcare stakeholders will address top issues facing health consumers today, including:

  • The Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Consumer: 2015 and Beyond
  • Health Care Innovations: Technology In Medicine
  • Health Care Innovations: Access to Health Care
