Hultgren Votes Again to Reopen Government
Washington, DC —Today, U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren (IL-14) voted again to fund and reopen the federal government. Rep. Hultgren supported House passage of all 12 appropriations spending bills to fund the government, as well as multiple Continuing Resolutions (CRs) and stand-alone funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), all of which the Senate failed to act upon.
“It is about time. Inaction and political obstruction have kept Congress from funding the government and doing the work we were sent here to do, like paying our troops and funding children’s healthcare. I welcome opportunities to debate legislative solutions for DACA recipients. We should discuss—while the government is open and functioning—reasonable solutions that are respectful of U.S. law and the American worker. Now, let’s get back to the work of the American people.”
The entire Illinois Republican Delegation in the House repeatedly urged Senators Durbin and Duckworth to support funding legislation to reopen the government.
