Hultgren to Convene Surgeon General Jerome Adams, Community Leadership to Fight Epidemic

Campton Hills, IL – U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) will host a Community Leadership Forum on the Opioid Epidemic featuring U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams on Wednesday, May 2.

The event, which will begin at 2:30 p.m., will be held at the Waubonsee Community College Auditorium in Sugar Grove. The event is open to the public. Please RSVP to

“As the Nation’s Doctor, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams employs both professional expertise and personal experience in tackling our nation’s opioid epidemic,” said Rep. Hultgren. “Our communities in northern Illinois have experienced this problem firsthand for several years, and we will benefit mightily from hearing Dr. Adams’s perspective on this national challenge. This crisis affects all of us, and I encourage everyone to join our important discussion.”

Rep. Hultgren has made combating opioid abuse in northern Illinois a top priority. He hosted a Community Leadership Forum on Heroin Prevention in March 2014. He has also convened meetings with local emergency first responders, health care leaders and providers and state and local government officials, and released a Community Action Plan to Combat Heroin and Opioid Abuse and its supplemental report, Persisting in the Fight, and has supported the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA).
