Walgreens Continues to Expand Drug Take Back Programs
McHenry, IL – U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) will attend the unveiling of a new local drug take back kiosk on Thursday, August 2nd.
The event, which will begin at 9:00 a.m., will be held at the Walgreens on Princeton in Huntley.
“It is so important to have a place to properly dispose of medications. How often do we let old prescriptions sit in our medicine cabinets, often times past the point where we still need them. How frequently do we even forget what the prescription was originally for? By having a convenient and safe method of disposal we can do our part to ensure that medications are not falling into the wrong hands and that they aren’t a temptation to our own family members, our children, our children’s friends even. Opioid abuse and drug addiction in Illinois is an ever growing concern, and what Walgreens is doing is so important to getting highly addictive medications out of the home and disposed of in the correct way.”
Rep. Hultgren has made combating opioid abuse in northern Illinois a top priority. He hosted the United States Surgeon General Jerome Adams at a Community Leadership Forum in May of this year. He has also convened meetings with local emergency first responders, health care leaders and providers as well as state and local government officials, and released a Community Action Plan to Combat Heroin and Opioid Abuse.
